If true it doesn’t give me confidence that he’s going to be a good fit and might explain why the return was low.
Top Comment: As a Chicagoan who follows the bears as well, this article is BS. They didn’t care for one another but were professionals and there wasn’t a peep about this for years. This article cites a blogger’s post with dubious sources/connections to the team. Not liking each other but remaining professional isn’t toxic, it’s called being an adult

I mean yeah if the 25 year old proves to be better than the 35 year old former Pro Bowler, of course that is better for the Steelers.
That isn't even considering the extra running threat that Fields would bring that would help the run game when he runs boot action.
The only way that isn't true is if both QBs fail but Fields fails a little less. The Steelers need their QB to definitively win the position through solid play not just be the least bad of two bad options.
The question is, what makes us think Fields will improve to show he should be given the starting job and what will it take for him to start because Wilson is going to be given the chance as the starter first?

Top Comment: Absolutely support keeping both if at all possible. I don't think it will be difficult to keep Russ. If he keeps playing well and wins a playoff game, we would happily give him a Kirk Cousins-level contract and I don't see him playing hardball too much at this point in his career. He and Tomlin know what they have with each other. The question will be Fields and whether he is set on starting next season. He deserves the opportunity if he wants it. But if his options are starting for the Raiders or Giants or whoever, maybe he realizes that the grass isn't always greener with a train wreck franchise. Maybe staying in Pittsburgh and waiting for the right opportunity is the better move for him. But I would for sure keep him if possible even if it means making him the highest paid backup in the league.

Do you know what’s ACTUALLY interesting about this? If Justin Fields plays 51% of the Steelers snaps, the 6th round pick the Steelers owe Chicago becomes a 4th round pick.
